Program
The governmental relations internship program offered by the Florida Fund Foundation begins in January, runs through the legislative session, and ends in early May. Interns are placed with firms based on their application, credentials, and alignment with the firm’s interests. Interns are expected to complete 20 hours per week at their respective firm, submit weekly update emails to the internship coordinator, as well as meet biweekly with the FFF administrators to discuss experiences and attend briefings that will extend the educational component of this internship. This is a paid internship; interns are paid a $2,000 stipend throughout the course of the internship.
The program calls for talented and organized individuals who possess a strong interest in state politics. The internship program is designed to introduce students to the legislative process of the state of Florida by working closely with local professionals in the field. Job responsibilities will include legislative monitoring, bill tracking, interaction between public and private entities, understanding of House and Senate rules, and other duties that will enhance this experience.
In the past, the number of interns has grown as each year went by, establishing the Florida Fund Foundation within the community as a respected source for interns. In order to uphold that integrity and provide the best educational experience, the Florida Fund Foundation plans to limit the number of internships provided during the 2009 Session. By taking this route, the program will ensure that the very best firms and interns participate, allowing for the optimal experience.
